| International Cuts Production at Springfield Plant |
|
International Truck and Engine Corp.'s Springfield Ohio, plant will halt production on one assembly line the weeks on Jan. 8 and Jan 22.
About 600 of the plant's 4,200 workers will be off during the shutdown, a company spokeswoman told the Associated Press.
The plant resumed production Jan. 2 after a two-week holiday shutdown. Long-term, employment at the Springfield plant will be reduced about 40% by the end 2003 as International shift production of heavy trucks to other facilities in order to concentrate on its soon-to-be-unveiled medium duty truck line.

| Rapid Response Capitol Hill Rally part 1 |
|
On June 5-6, 2001 Rapid Response will be taking our message to Capitol Hill in person. We will be traveling there from
across the country to deliver our legislators a very simple message: "You must do what it takes to save the U.S. Steel Industry!
You must support H.R. 808 -- The Steel Recovery Act." Below is a tentative agenda of our planned activities in Washington, D.C. We would encourage all local unions to participate.

| Rapid Response Capitol Hill Rally part 4 |
|
June 6, 2001
3:00 - 4:00 PM Debriefing and Late Lunch
(We will gather on the mall after our lobbying and letter delivery session to debrief and
have lunch. Also, we will get a report on the status of H.R. 808.)
As with other functions we have held in our nation's capital, the cost of this action must be borne by the local union. Please
check with your District Rapid Response Coordinator or call your district office to see if they have travel arrangements already
lined up and to get hotel information. The livelihoods of thousands of steelworkers, their families, and retirees are hanging in the
balance. We hope to see as many of you as possible there.

Navistar to boost heavy truck production
7/31/01 9:53 AM
Source: Reuters
CHICAGO, July 31 (Reuters) - Navistar International Corp. said on Tuesday it will increase production of its heavy trucks, the second truckmaker to do so this month, as it matches current sales levels.
Navistar, the No. 4 U.S. heavy duty truckmaker, said it has been producing less than it has sold for the past year and its action does not signal an end to the severe drop in demand for U.S. commercial trucks.
Navistar will boost production of Class 8 trucks at its Chatham, Ontario, assembly plant to 60 units a day from 43 units currently. The new schedule will take effect Sept. 4 and result in the recall of almost 200 workers.

|
DETROIT, Aug 7 - Ford Motor Co. and Navistar International Corp. said on Tuesday they had formed a joint venture to build medium-duty commercial trucks.
The world's second-largest automaker said it would be a 50-50 partner with Navistar in the venture named Blue Diamond Truck Company LLC. Both companies will contribute intellectual property to Blue Diamond, and Ford will contribute an undisclosed amount of cash. Further financial terms were not disclosed.
Blue Diamond's first products will be Class 6 and 7 medium-duty commercial trucks built at Navistar's plant in Escobedo, Mexico. The trucks will be sold under the Ford brand and Navistar's International brand, with prototype production set for later this year and full production expected in late 2002.

| Navistar to remove "poison pill" defense |
|
WARRENVILLE, Ill., Oct 16 (Reuters) - Navistar International Corp. (NYSE:NAV - news), the fourth-largest U.S. truck maker, said on Tuesday it will remove a ``poison pill'' takeover defense that has been opposed by shareholders.
The pill, formally called a shareholder rights plan, has been in place since April 1999. It was intended to make it prohibitively expensive for a hostile suitor to buy the company without negotiating with the board.
Shareholders had voted against the plan in a non-binding resolution at Navistar's annual meeting in February.
Under a plan approved by the company's board, shareholders will automatically be paid 1 cent in cash for each right. There is currently one right attached to each outstanding share of common stock.
Payments are expected to be mailed on Nov. 15 to shareholders of record on Oct. 26.

|
12/3/2001 — International Truck and Engine Corp., Chicago, will halt one of its two production lines at its Springfield, Ohio, plant for one week, putting about 400 workers off the job temporarily.
According to the Associated Press, the temporary shutdown the week of Dec. 10 will affect the production line that produces International's new 4000 series trucks as well as school buses. International Warns Of More Possible Layoffs
12/20/2001 — If sales of new trucks don’t improve soon, International Truck & Engine is warning there could be further layoffs at the company.
According to published reports, the company already laid off 400 workers last month from its Springfield, Ohio, assembly plant, and those numbers could increase the first of next year.
A spokesman for International parent Navistar International has been quoted as saying between 100 and 500 additional employees could be laid off as soon as March at the same plant. According to a spokesman for the plant, the exact number of layoffs won’t be known until next month.
The company has reportedly already told union members about the possible cutbacks. International has already cut more than 1,100 jobs in Springfield this year, which now employs some 3,100 people compared to 4,600 in October of last year.
